Q. Will we need to have a meeting in connection with the website design?
A. We find face to face meetings help but are not required, depending on circumstances, you can come to us or we can come to you with expenses.
Q. How long will it take for my website to be completed?
A. We generally allow 2 months for completion from design to live.
Q. Once my website is completed, what after sale services do you offer?
A. We offer a range of after sale services including maintenance, search engine optimization, website hosting and upgrades.
Q. Do I have to keep my website with you forever, or can I move it to another supplier to host it if I wish?
A. We would proffer you stayed with us and as such, do not provide after sale services unless you are hosting through us.
Q. In what format should I supply words and photographs about my business for my new website?
A. We can deal with many different formats of text and photographs, such as PDFs, Word documents, Text files or even just plain e-mails. For images we proffer the mainstream image formats such as JPG, GIF or PNG, but we can work with others.
Q. Will my website design be "Search Engine" friendly?
A. Depending on your after sale services we will work to make your website as search engine friendly as possible.
Q. I heard that there are hidden costs associated with web design services. Is this true?
A. We try to be as transparent as possible but there are occasions when communication can break down or unexpected things can happen, in which case we may need to charge for these.
Q. Am I tied into Xs Designs for any site maintenance or updates I wish to do once my website is designed?
A. If you wish to have after sale services you must have your hosting through Xs Designs.
Q. Will everyone see my website the same?
A. We aim to make websites look similar in all browsers, but because of screen resolutions and differences between web browsers we cannot guarantee exact looks of a website cross platforms.
Q. Do you guarantee that my site will always be available?
A. We try to maintain 100% website availability but due to technical difficulties we cannot guarantee this.
Q. Can I get e-mail with my website?
A. Yes, we provide all the necessary tools for you to get e-mails from your domain.
Q. When can I update my website content?
A. Depending on your maintenance contract you can update once per month, and depending on the level of the contract you can update more or less content.
Q. How can I accept credit cards on my website?
A. We offer installation of such payment methods as Paypal.
Q. I already have a website and I need it updating, can you help me?
A. We do offer website updating services although we only do it on our own hosting packages.
Q. How many pages can I have on my website?
A. Depending on your package you can have anything over 5.
Q. What if I do not like the design?
A. You get an initial design quota and if you do not like those you will need to pay a small fee if you would like more.
Q. Who owns the website once the website design is completed?
A. All designs are copyright to Xs Designs.
Q. How long does it take for a design to be completed?
A. Designs can take up to a month depending on how complex the specifications are.
Q. I would like you to design my site, what do I need to do now/what is the process?
A. To speed up the process we would like you to provide a rough design idea which we can help you with, but this is not required.
Q. Do I need to send a deposit for the work?
A. We will not start work until we have cleared funds, once we have decided the price of the website we will give you a deposit amount which is usually anywhere from 20-50%.
Q. Will we need to have a meeting?
A. Its entirely up to you, we can do it without a meeting but generally the process is a lot smoother with a meeting.
Q. Can I see the design while my website is under-going development?
A. Yes, we will have the site on our personal servers during development which you can see throughout the development process.
Q. Can I make changes to the website design or text content once it has been started?
A. Once the website design has been chosen there will be an additional charge if you decide to change it a substantial amount, text can be changed entirely at will during the development stages.
Q. What screen resolution will you design my website for?
A. We generally design for the 1024 x 768 resolution as this is the most common but we try to keep the design workable in all resolutions.
Q. What payment methods do you accept?
A. At the moment we accept cheque, Paypal or direct bank transfer.
Q. Can you come and take some suitable photos?
A. We do not offer a photography service, but we would recommend for the best results you hire a professional photographer.
Q. Do you use ready-made or "off the shelf" web page templates?
A. If we have a design that is similar to your requirements we will try to modify it to keep costs down, but your site is bespoke to you otherwise.
Q. What if I spot any mistakes on my site after it's gone live?
A. If the mistake is on our part we will fix it free of charge, if its your mistake we may charge or count it as your monthly update depending on the scale of it.
Q. How do I know how many pages I require?
A. A general rule is Number of employees + 3, but every company is different.
Q. What kind of maintenance will I need?
A. It depends on how many updates you would like, we can sort out which kind of maintenance will suit your individual needs.
Q. Who owns my new website?
A. The design is copyright to Xs Designs, the content is copyright to your company.
